Mustek DV300T digital camera looks like a cellphone, isn’t
Posted Jan 31st 2008 4:07PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Digital Cameras Mustek isn’t exactly known for its high-end cameras, and its new DV300T model sure looks to be no exception, although it at least attempts to make up for its shortcomings with versatility, not to mention a decidedly non-digital camera-like package. Those shortcomings begin with a max 3.1 megapixel resolution for still images and no optical zoom to speak of, but you will be able to use the device as a PMP, a voice recorder, and an e-book reader, although we’re sure even Mustek must have had a chuckle at including that as one of the “6-in1″ features. No word on a price, but if Mustek’s past cameras are any indication, you likely w (Read the full post about ‘Mustek DV300T digital camera looks like a cellphone, isn’t’…)

scanR Application Converts Docs Into PDFs

scanR Application Converts Docs Into PDFs
scanR has developed an imaging technology that turns printed color documents which were captured on a cell phone (of decent megapixel count, I might add) into PDF format. This is different from what we currently have, since today’s technology requires color documents to be converted into a black-and-white format before the text can be distinguished from the photographs. Since scanR’s new application takes a different route, it is capable of recording characters even in color. Pretty neat, huh? Sanwa Peripherals For the PC

Sanwa Peripherals For the PC
I’m not too sure whether anyone misses their notebook’s touchpad whenever they’re sitting in front of a PC, but apparently Sanwa thinks so with its new peripherals that come in wired and unwired varieties. Both of them feature a full keyboard complete with a touchpad at the bottom, just like your regular notebook to feel at home. No idea on how much this costs though, but I can’t see myself picking one up anytime soon or even in the near future. A cell phone with no buttons?

A cell phone with no buttons?
Some experts think that in near future we will go back to using simple devices. Even now there is a growing tendency to produce less functional, but very original things. This happens because there are people who don’t pay much attention to the amount of functions that a device has and the only criterion while buying something is design of the gadget. Cell phones are not an exception. The given gadget is just of that kind. It’s absolutely different from all the things that you’ve seen before. Its novelty consists in the fact that there are no buttons at all. Instead of them it has holes. So to “push” a button you just need to stick your finger into the hole. Think Geek 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirt Saddens Normal People
Maybe I am just jaded and twisted as I head towards middle age at the speed of a bullet train, but I think that these ThinkGeek 8-Bit Dynamic Life Shirts are sad. They are not cute, they are not funny, and they are unlikely to put a smile on my face and will certainly not brighten up my day. The only people that are going to wear these are overly affectionate young couples in the most sickening stages of puppy love, or those that are so revoltingly desperate that they wish to advertise their loneliness by means of a glowing shirt. As you draw near your special someone, the life meter lights up. You can get up to six lives. The battery is good for three hours, if you can go that long without taking a big time monster beating. MacBook Air Released with Slew of Problems

Posted on Jan 31, 2008 03:55:29 PM

When Steve Jobs first pulled the MacBook Air from a manilla envelope at Macworld, he claimed that unlike other manufacturers, Apple had made no compromises to build such a skinny notebook. Jim Dalrymple of Macworld disagrees. He has listed a whole range of problems, all of which Apple has copped to in official documentation.

First, the MacBook Air might have trouble with early 801.11n routers. The “n” specifications are still in draft, so although most routers work fine with most computers, the Air’s new implementation might see interference from devices using the 2.4GHz range of the spectrum.

Greenhouse USB SDHC card reader

What looks like a faily small USB flash drive is actually a USB SDHC memory card reader from Greenhouse of Japan. You get the maximum data transfer offered by USB 2.0 (480Mbps), comeplete with a cover that allows one to use the device as though it is a pen drive. With SDHC cards tipped to hit capacities of 32GB in the near future, it makes perfect sense that devices like this would be a pretty hot seller in the future. The Greenhouse GH SDHC USB card reader is also compatible with SD, microSD/SDHC, miniSD, RS-MMC, RS-MMC4.0 and MMCmicro cards. At $5 a pop, this is worth getting if but for its convenience.
