![Skype for PSP Postponed (UPDATED) [Sony]](/wp-content/thumbs/skype-for-psp-postponed-updated-sony.jpg)
We brought you the fantastic news that Skype would be coming to a PSP carrying pocket near you soon, but it seems the plans have been disrupted. Sony Japan has just released information detailing an indefinite delay, as they screwed up on the headsets that were required—Sony’s microphone/speaker units failed to meet Skype certification standards. Don’t be surprised when this announcement is replicated the world over. We aren’t happy bunnies. [Sony Japan] Update: Kotaku’s people are saying all is well for everyone else, it’s only Japan that are having their Skype PSP service delayed-phew! (Sorry Japan.) Posted Jan 23rd 2008 4:35AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Cellphones Eww, it’s back. Nokia’s 7900 Crystal Prism is now really, extra-super official with a scheduled Q1 2008 launch for €375 (before taxes and subsidies). Besides sporting a slight redesign from that earlier pic, we now know that the 7900 packs WCDMA 2100/850 in addition to those quad-GSM bands, 2-inch OLED, and 2 megapixel CMOS camera. But really, this one’s all about the look created by designer Frédérique Daubal. Yeah, us neither. “Renowned” enough for Nokia though, just not the 9.4 million pages of Wikipedia. The 7900 Crystal Prism is Nokia’s latest fashion phone. The etching (and color) featured on the aluminum back of the phone have been designed by Frédérique Daubal, a creative designer. It comes with a matching headset. It’s not my style, but is it yours? Drop a comment in the full post to tell us what you think of it. Posted Jan 23rd 2008 3:46AM by Thomas RickerFiled under: Gaming, Handhelds Weird. After making such a fuss, Sony Japan just delayed Skype on PSP services in Japan. A move with a definite knock-on effect for the rest of world. The cause of which seems to be Sony’s two microphone products — the single pack PSPJ-15010 and twin pack PSPJ-15011 — which “did not meet the Skype specifications” and thus failed the certification process. Something you think Sony would have known well before the eve of the scheduled January 24th launch. (Read the full post about ‘Sony delays Skype PSP and microphone launch, indefinitely’…)

Gold plating and a Philips PNX0103ET audio processor create what iriver calls an “assassin’s mace” of a device. Sure, Cute. Simple. Friendly. Posted Jan 23rd 2008 3:12AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Tablet PCsPrior to today, it had certainly been a hot, hot minute since we’d heard a peep out of GETAC, but here we are peeking the firm’s second new product in as many days. The E100 tablet PC weighs in at just three pounds, but this dainty gizmo reportedly meets MIL-STD-810F and IP54 standards for “durability and protection against dirt, dust, water, motion, vibration, temperature and other factors that would severely damage or disable a commercial-grade PC.” Beyond its tough attire, you’ll find an 8.4-inch SVGA display (optional sunlight readable) with 800 nits of brightness, an 800MHz Intel Stealey processor, up to 1GB of DDR2 RAM, 60 to 100GB shock-resistant hard drive, 802.11b/g WiFi, Bluetooth 2.0 and optional WWAN / GPS to boot. General Electric have just announced no less than 7 new digital cameras at their European launch in London. With a rainbow of colours on offer, including pinks, purples, yellow and green, the new GE range will certainly liven up the cold winter months. Top of the tree is the promising E1050 camera, which features HDMI connectivity and a sexy touch-screen interface. Also worth looking out for is the new GE G2, one of the slimmest and lightest cameras on the market. GE’s original aggressive entry last year into the digital camera world didn’t really bear fruit, with poor performance and patchy image quality spoiling what looked good on paper. Apposite Technologies recently rolled out its Linktropy Mini, a device that is actually a portable, low cost version of the Linktropy WAN emulator. What exactly does the Linktropy Mini do, you ask? For starters, it is capable of emulating wide area network links of up to 100 Mbps without breaking the bank, thanks to a $1,975 price tag. The basic network impairments emulated include link bandwidth, delay, jitter, and packet loss among others, and was specially designed to meet the needs of sales professionals, sales engineers, and product resellers who can’t wait to demonstrate the performance of their own networking applications at various venues such as customer sites and trade shows (Read the full post about ‘Linktropy Mini from Apposite Technologies’…)
