A lot of efforts were made to help blind people restore their sight. Yet, despite the fact that many promising ideas appeared it’s very hard to find a solution for such a complex problem. But in case we really want to make all those people happy the research on this issue must go on. Thus, according to the recent patent application implanting a micro-camera directly into the eyeball may be a future solution for restoring sight to blind or people with damaged vision. Actually technology to restore sight to the blind by using electronic retinas was developed some time ago, but the link between the retina and external cameras was involving wires, which represents a significant disadvantage of such a method. ![Panasonic Lumix TZ5 Is 10X Zoom Camera and HD Camcorder Rolled In One [Digital Cameras]](/wp-content/thumbs/panasonic-lumix-tz5-is-10x-zoom-camera-and-hd-camcorder-rolled-in-one-digital-cameras.jpg)
Panasonic, obviously eager to combine its skills in HD video and still photography, has built what might be a camcorder-killer: the $350 Lumix TZ5 9.1-megapixel camera with 10X optical zoom lens and 720p high-definition video recording. There are some features we’ve seen before from Pana: an optical image stabilizer, motion-sensitive ISO control and smart detection of up to 15 faces. Added to that are new powers: automatic exposure adjustment and ever-important in-camera redeye fixing. The junior version of this camera is the $300 TZ4. Though it has the same 28mm wide angle 10X zoom lens, it’s got a 2.5″ LCD with 230,000 dots, rather than the TZ5’s super-fine 460,000-dot 3-incher. Have you been considering the purchase of an Asus Eee PC, but thought “that’s too cheap,” and decided against it? With a price tag of $299 for the 2GB version, who could blame you? Don’t worry, CybertronPC is here to help you out. You’ll notice that the picture above looks like a black Asus Eee PC, only with a giant hand and a Cyberton logo. If you were to dig a little deeper and check out the specs, you’d soon realize that it is in fact identical. You’ll get an Intel Celeron M 910GML, 512MB of DDR2, 2GB of SSD storage and a 7-inch screen. The real difference here is that you’ll have to fork over $349 instead of $299 for an identical Eee PC. NEC is supposedly set to begin pushing fuel cell-powered handsets. The handset features a touchscreen display and what appears to be valve to potentially recharge the handset once the fuel has all been used. Color choices seem to be a bit “girly” but it appears the liquid provides the color, so perhaps there will be some additional colors when it’s released sometime this year . No word on any specs, pricing, or networks. [Via] Tags: speakers, camera, pvr, DAB (Read the full post about ‘NEC Flask Phone sports fuel cell’…)

PC Pro reviews the HTC Touch Dual and writes, “The original Touch launched as an iPhone competitor, but although the touch interface was great for viewing photos and playing music it was a chore to send texts or even to make phone calls. That’s what the sliding keyboard of its follow-up - the Touch Dual - aims to address.”

Yuba, makers of tough utility bikes for developing countries, is releasing the Mundo in Europe this month, with a US launch planned in February. The steel framed bike has an extended wheelbase for stability, and the built in carrying platform at the back can be used for people or cargo (it will carry the driver plus two passengers, or a 220kg/485lbs. load ).
Yuba offers three models, differentiated by gearing: a one speed, a six speed and a special order five speed, which has a reinforced hub transmission that can be shifted when moving or stationary. All three have v-brakes front and back, and come in red or blue.

Posted Jan 29th 2008 9:29AM by Evan BlassFiled under: Desktops, Laptops While it looked like Mac users couldn’t wait to get their hands on the latest version of Apple’s operating system, their Windows counterparts seem to have been a little more reticent about picking up Microsoft’s oft-delayed Vista upgrade — so much so that Redmond decided to both extend XP’s shelf life by six months as well as offer an unprecedented “downgrade” service on select SKUs. Well with the June 30th cutoff fast approaching, PC World decided to take a look at your options for procuring an XP license after that date, but unfortunately, the picture isn’t too pretty.
