Posted Feb 20th 2008 1:21PM by Darren MurphFiled under: Displays, HDTV, Home Entertainment For those with under a grand to spend and an incessant hankering for a new projector, we’ve got phenomenal news. Epson has added two more 3LCD PJs to its ever-expanding PowerLite line, both of which feature an XGA (1,024 x 768) resolution, a built-in Ethernet port for remote monitoring and control, an integrated ten-watt speaker and a closed-caption decoder to boot. As for the 83+, you’ll find 2,200 lumens compared to the 822+’s 2,600, but other than that, the two are essentially identical. Good enough for you? Posted Feb 20th 2008 9:58AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Household We can’t say the writing was exactly on the wall or anything, but when Sharper Image attempted to sell self-branded cellphones and got dinged for pushing grossly overpriced air purifiers that actually made things worse — well, you could tell things weren’t all peaches and cream. Regardless, the company made famous for selling trinkets and massage chairs in malls everywhere has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy after “declining sales and three straight years of losses led to a shortage of liquidity.” Comically enough, the retailer actually went so far as to “partly blame” the negative publicity surrounding the aforementioned Ionic Breeze air purifiers for its falling revenues, and court papers also show that it’s currently seeking a $60 million loan to keep operating. What looks like a drivable pyramid is actually the Dream Car created by a father-son team working from home. It might tip the scales at 8,000 pounds, but it doesn’t use any gas as it is powered by 80 batteries and four electric engines. The top speed is nothing much to shout about anyway at 45 mph, and it can go 80 miles before the batteries require a recharge. It takes four hours to juice up the Dream Car before it is ready to give another crack. Greg Zanis and his sons’ effort is culminated in the Dream Car as they call it, featuring a bumper that wraps around the vehicle, gel-filled tires, an electric braking system and a 4-wheel drive. This is definitely not the ride to take if you plan on picking chicks up at night club. (Read the full post about ‘Dream Car Goes Green’…)
