Posted Mar 31st 2008 7:09PM by Ryan BlockFiled under: cellphonesApril Fool’s day joke? Could be, but we’re hearing it might be real: the long standing bastions of iPhone hacking, the iphone Dev Team, posted a note to their site stating that “[today] the DevTeam was approached by an unnamed party to sell all of the intellectual property and related applications. After much consideration [What, hours? -Ed.] the offer was accepted and the [Dev Team] has ceased.” Seems a bit outlandish. For those not in the know, the Dev Team is the same group that posted jailbreaks to 2.0 (before it was out), 1.1.3, 1.1.1, developed the AnySIM unlock, and are thiiiis close to releasing the Pwnage tool (which promised total unsigned firmware control of the iPhone). The HTC Manilla is but a customized interface which remains on top of its Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional OS. Manilla isn’t actually TouchFLO 2.0, as TouchFLO 2.0 consists of but a few updates involving the scrolling and cube sections. So what’s new with the Manilla interface? For starters, it covers way more applications compared to TouchFLO, and it seems as though all HTC-developed applications feature the new interface. Keep your fingers crossed that this will be the standard interface for the x7510, as hope springs eternal otherwise. Posted Mar 31st 2008 8:51AM by Darren MurphFiled under: Networking Chances are, you could think of a million and one ways to totally take advantage of having a 40Gbps internet connection installed in your abode, but for one Sigbritt Löthberg — who actually had such a setup — she chose to take advantage of it in quite a perplexing way. Yahoo reportedly will launch a new website called ”Shine” today. The website features content from the best writers and bloggers in women’s publishing. This could very well be another social network but no, the website is considered as a vertical similar similar to Yahoo Sports, Finance, News, or Entertainment. Shine is the first site from Yahoo to target an audience, more specifically the women, because Yahoo sites usually are niched. Since studies show that more females blog more than males do, Shine could become a success unlike the Green and Tech sites from Yahoo. Yahoo said that there are almost 40 million women Yahoo users ages 25 to 54 that could benefit from this new website. (Read the full post about ‘Yahoo Shine targets more women bloggers’…)

In a move that’s stunned the market, Nokia has made an agressive bid for Apple for a whopping $159 billion. Alarmed by the rise of the iPhone, which is set to net Apple $3 billion this year and up to $45 billion next year according to market analyst Piper Jaffray, the giant Finnish phone maker has decided its best option is to buy Apple outright in a deal that makes Microsoft’s bid of $44 billion for Yahoo! seem like chicken feed. According to reports, Nokia intends to spin off Apple’s existing computer business, but keep its successful music and phone divisions. If you’re like me, you have no idea if you’re maintaining proper tire pressure in your car tires in between trips to the shop. This self-inflating tire, developed in the Czech Republic, takes this out of your hands by inflating automatically through a device called a peristaltic pump which inflates the tire as it turns, keeping it at a constant, safe pressure level. This technology, if adopted widely, will not only make the roads safer, but will have a positive environmental impact by way of savings on fuel (cars with under-inflated tires use more fuel), resulting in a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions, and an increase in the lifespan of tires. Read more here. (Read the full post about ‘Self-inflating tire will save money and reduce damage to the environment’…)

I guess these have been around for quite a while now since the Spiderman 3 movie has long ended its run at the cinemas, but they’re still cool enough to warrant a mention here. Two realistic Spiderman masks with an intercom duplex system that allows you to talk and listen to your partner at the same time. Features: flexible microphone arm and adjustable intercom mask strap. Requires 2-9V batteries (not included). They won’t come cheap though, and since you’ll need at least a couple of these, the £34.99 price tag could be rather prohibitive. I’m the kind of guy that loves customizing his computer. No boring beige box and single monitor for me. I’ve got a nice window in the side of the case to show off my awesome hardware and liquid cooling system. The two wall-mounted LCDs help me stand out a bit too. However, one thing I haven’t really thought about is customizing my keyboard. Sure, I can program a few function keys to my liking, but nothing like this DX1 keyboard. The DX1 is about as customizable as you can get. While it has only 25 keys, it’s not really meant for typing, but rather as a tool to aid you in whatever line of work (or play) you’re doing. Each key can be placed anywhere on the board, and moved on a whim. (Read the full post about ‘DX1 Input System is the ultimate customizable keyboard’…)
