We had the chance to get hands-on with Samsung’s WiBro-lovin’ SWT-W100k back at CES in January. Judging by the arrival of the product waifs, the 4.3-inch, WVGA touchscreen PMP now looks to be getting an official coming-out party in its native S.Korea. €341 takes the little all-purpose device with GPS, 2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, 8GB of internal flash, and DMB mobile television home on a yet to be determined date. VoIP client, personal organizer, and web browser? Sure, that too. No word on the processor choice but it’s definitely not running any flavor of Microsoft OS. Sony’s Giga Juke hard-drive hi-fi system is a convergence device that won’t fit in your pocket. It comes in two versions. First, the NAS-SC55PKE networked storage box has an 80GB hard drive, automatic CD ripping, automatic title labeling, playlist generation, a 4.3" color display, FM tuner, and easy transfer to mp3 player, ipod or PSP. It comes with a wireless player unit with integrated 20W amp, five wireless speakers and internet radio. It pumps 100W to local speakers. The second machine, the NAS-E35HD, is limited to 15,000 songs instead of 40,000 (the hard drive is also 80GB, the "larger" number assumes ATRAC at 48kbps, a format not available in the NAS-E35HD). Thanks again to some FCC documents, whether it is leaked phone images or in this case details about what phone may be heading to which carrier. This time we have learned the Sony Ericsson K850, that has previously been announced by Rogers in Canada will be heading to AT&T here in the US. According to the FCC details the Sony Ericsson K850 will have tri-band 3G goodness, which should make both AT&T and SE fans happy. The K850 will also feature a 5-megapixel camera with xenon flash. Of course without any official word from AT&T we are still unsure of a few important details; just when the K850 will be available and how much it will retail for. Posted Mar 9th 2008 4:59PM by Chris ZieglerFiled under: cellphonesWhat the heck is going on here? Despite the overwhelming popularity of gizmo-heavy mobile devices in Japan, working with megacarrier NTT DoCoMo must be a losing proposition for many of its manufacturing partners, because just days after Mitsubishi’s announcement of its withdrawal, a fresh Nikkei report indicates that Sony Ericsson is raising the white flag as well to divert attention and resources to less saturated and more profitable markets. Apparently, DoCoMo will bear the brunt of the downsizing, while Sony Ericsson’s partnership with KDDI — a CDMA carrier — will continue. Posted Mar 9th 2008 5:29PM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: Gaming Sure, your games are thrilling and all, but they don’t exactly cause actual pain, do they? Well, that’s all going to change thanks to the two twisted dreamers who started the company Mindwire, and their electroshock feedback device, the V5. That’s right, next time you get fragged in Unreal, sacked in Madden, or robbed in GTA — you get shocked in real life. Just the sadistic thrill you’ve been after, right? The device works by splitting your controller input to the “brain” of the V5 and your console, then sends electric jolts via electrode pads on your skin.
