If you thought the Wireless Finger Mouse was a cool gadget, that’s because you don’t know the Mini Mouse Speaker. As the name suggests, this 2-in-1 device is able to work as a mouse, and as a speaker. It is very light - 44 grams - and considerable small - 50 x 34 x 73mm - but overall it doesn’t seem like an ergonomic mouse, or does it? The speaker has 2W of output power, and you can control the volume directly on the mouse. To connect the speaker to different audio sources, there is a 3.5mm audio connector. The USB Mini Mouse Speaker costs $14. (Read the full post about ‘Mini Mouse and Speaker’…)

The K2 Porcupine Flashlight is one self-protection device that will definitely come in handy if you are a lady and have to walk home alone late at night. You just can’t take chances these days, which is why the K2 comes with a 70 lumens flashlight and a retractable front end that “features sharpened spikes around the bezel that protrude outward only when the spike protector is lowered. With the spikes protected when not needed, the fast turn threading allows the rapid retraction of the spike protector. These spikes are sharpened far more than those ordinary crenellated bezel light. Together with its powerful 70-lumen eye-blinding white light, the sharpened retractable spikes make K2 a powerful self defense tool.” Sounds fierce enough? Nintendo’s DS Lite is an awesome portable gaming machine, but how does it fare when it comes to being a portable media player? Without third party applications, the DS Lite fares badly in this aspect, but Nintendo aims to change that next March by launching an official movie download service. Dubbed the DSvision, it will be launched in Japan next spring and will require DS Lite owners to pick up a £17 bundle that features a USB dongle and a 512MB microSD memory card that fits inside the USB dongle’s slot. It doesn’t use the DS’ wireless capability to download movies, but instead requires users to purchase these movies on the DSvision website, transfer it to the microSD memory card and plugged into the DS Lite itself. It will take a much better command of written Japanese Korean than my paltry non-existent skills afford to suss out full details on Gakken’s vacuum-tube ipod amplifier, but damn, this looks like a fun assembly project in the "pre-soldering ability" class. Looks like they even supply the screwdriver. And when you’re done, you have a faux-Heathkit beauty that should be the envy of your workgroup. GM Corporation took the opportunity at CeBIT 2008 to introduce its Slim LP PC case range that comes with an external optical disc drive. Won’t these just add up to the same amount of bulk in the end? I guess if you don’t really install programs that often, then having one of these would make perfect sense if you want to save space. Otherwise, I don’t think throwing in an optical disc drive of sorts into a home PC will actually mean you lose space to transport new furniture from Ikea to your abode. Still, these new cases are head turners and from what I can see, they’re fingerprint magnets as well, glossy surface and all. Sprint is releasing a software update for the HTC Mogul that will let the phone connect to a faster data network. The software upgrade, which will double the data connection and enhance upload speeds of the mobile phone, will be using the Evolution-Data Optimized Revision A (EV-DO Rev.A) network. Sprint is currently only using the EV-DO Rev.A network only for laptop cards, while most of their mobile phones used the slower network EV-DO Rev.0 network. With the new faster data network, the Mogul phone will be able to download at a speed of 600 kbps to 1,400 kbps. This is way faster that the current speed of the EV-DO utilized by most Sprint mobile phones. (Read the full post about ‘Sprint updates HTC Mogul to connect to faster data network’…)

Up the realism factor when it comes to Link’s Crossbow Training on the Nintendo Wii with this unique add-on that boasts a laser sight and a ball-tipped arrow which actually fires when triggered. I’m not too sure why the manufacturer has included a laser sight, since that is actually harmful to one’s eyes especially when it bounces off the TV’s display straight back at your iris. Other than Link’s Crossbow Training that comes bundled with the Nintendo Wii Zapper, no other games feature a crossbow in it yet, so you can use this $28 peripheral as a toy during your kids’ Cowboys vs Injuns playtime. It seems to me that the more gadgets I acquire, the more USB cords that I am collecting. Is it just me, or are we steering away from charging our mobile devices with traditional electronic outlet plugs to charging exclusively to USB power.
I suppose that is all right if you have your computer on the whole time, or if you travel by laptop, like most businesspeople. However, what if you are in a situation where you have a gadget that powers only by USB charging and there is not a USB port to be found?
Fortunately, Belkin, a company known for PC peripherals, has a solution. You will notice that the power strip in this picture has a few outlets on it, but also has some USB ports on it as well.
