Samsung Glyde leaked photos show apps, user interface
New photos of the highly anticipated Samsung Glyde, a touchscreen and “gliding” QWERTY keyboard equipped smartphone from good ol’ Samsung, has been leaked by a user over at Howard Forums. The shots were taken with a better camera phone and now show more of the Samsung Glyde’s unique user interface and some of its apps. One photo (above) also confirms that it’s going to have a full HTML browser, which further “reinforces” its status as a possible contender to the Apple iphone (though Verizon says it will be the Voyager). Q1 2008 is quickly nearing its end and yet there has been no word from Verizon about the official release date yet. Olympus launches Limited Edition Mju 1020 with colorful funky skins
Who says digital cameras have to always be simple and plain looking? The Olympus Limited Edition Mju 1020 shows that digital cameras can be as artsy and funky as an obscure abstract painting with 3 uniquely-styled skins. Designed by Romanian artists Matei Apostolescu, the limited edition Mju 1020 puts vibrancy and color in the true meaning of the word, to the otherwise usual casual design of the Mju 1020. The 3 skins would certainly appeal to the younger audience, most specifically to women photo enthusiasts. I doubt if the more serious photo hobbyists would fine it appealing though. But if you want to be different from the rest of the digital camera using crowd, the Mju 1020 would definitely give you the edge and that second look from folks seeing you with the Mju 1020. Mac Pro Miniaturized
Kudos to Hideo Takano for taking the effort and time to cram in a mac mini’s innards into the chassis of a miniaturized Mac Pro while making additional modifications all over. Known as the Mac Mini Pro, you get a 2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor running inside, accompanied by 2GB RAM. Heck, this imitation even houses a 500GB hard drive in a similar location as the actual Mac Pro. Gateway Notebooks Updated
Gateway, a company under the Acer umbrella, has unassumingly updated a couple of its mainstay notebooks while introducing another Penryn-based model. The M-151X and M-151XL have been given a speed boost, with the latter featuring a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo with the larger 3MB Level 2 cache and better battery life, shipping with 3GB of RAM and a massive 250GB hard drive. In addition, you will be able to enjoy decent portable gaming with the 256MB Mobility Radeon HD 2400 XT video card, having HDMI output and 802.11n to round off the list of improvements. The middle-class M-151X has everything the M-151XL has except for a slower 1.66GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM. (Read the full post about ‘Gateway Notebooks Updated’…)

Norhtec intro’s the Gecko; a $300 ultra-mobile PC
In what seems like yet another low-cost ultra-mobile PC, Norhtec has introduced the Gecko. Similar to the Cloudbook and Eee PC, the Gecko also has a 7-inch display. In addition the Gecko is also expected to feature a 1.0 GHz VIA C7-M processor, 40GB hard drive and support up to 1GB of RAM, although there was no mention of how much RAM will come standard. The Gecko is not yet in production, but is being worked on by Quanta. It is also expected to run, you guess it, a modified version of Linux. The Gecko will use Linpus Lite which is said to be similar to the easy (standard) mode of the Eee PC. Similar to the XO laptop from OLPC, this will be headed for the developing markets of the world and likely not be hitting the US or Europe anytime soon. Asus expects Windows Eee PC to outsell Linux counterpart 6 to 4
Posted Mar 13th 2008 2:29PM by Donald MelansonFiled under: Laptops Asus has never been one to shy away from making from making bold predications about it’s fast-selling Eee PC, and it’s now come out with yet another feat of prognostication, saying that it expects it’s forthcoming Windows-based Eee PC to outsell its Linux-based counterpart by a ratio of 6 to 4. As PC World points out, that’s despite the fact that the Windows version will cost nearly twice as much as the cheapest Linux-based Eee PC. Crazy Kart For The iPhone

Posted on Mar 14, 2008 01:13:11 AM

The iphone looks set to get yet another interesting game - this time of the driving variety. Known as Crazy Kart, the video demo you see above looks pretty smooth, where a virtual steering wheel is located right at the bottom which you use to control your on-screen avatar. The game’s developer is now experimenting with tilt options and landscape display possibilities. Good thing they are also working on four-player multiplayer that adds to portable gaming mayhem courtesy of a WiFi connection.

3-megapixel Philips camera is slim, stylish, affordable
I know exactly what you’re thinking…Philips is still making cameras?! The answer to that is a resounding yes, my friend, and as you can see from the photo above, Philips has actually got a slim and stylish little digital camera up its sleeve. This little number will be able to shoot 3-megapixel photos, enhanced with it’s built-in flash, and also store photos on any SD memory card. According to the product page, this “retro-styled camera would look at home in the hands of Fred Astair or Audrey Hepburn.” Now I don’t know anyone who would want to put a camera in the hands of two dead people, but hey, if you’re going to spend $50 for this thing, I suppose you’d want the right to do anything you want with it then, right?
