Colorful, individual egg boilers by Eiko
I don’t know how long you have to boil an egg to make it soft or hard or somewhere in between, only that if I forget I’m boiling eggs long enough that the pot is dry of water when I get back to the kitchen, then the eggs are probably very well cooked and likely to be inedible. No, it’s never occurred to me to use an egg timer, even though I like my eggs soft-boiled and am really pickly about the degree of softness when I order at a restaurant. I love these egg boilers by Eiko enough to motivate me to learn the nuances of egg boiling (please, no snide comments about how painfully easy it is) so that I can make my eggs soft and my daughter’s eggs hard but not rubbery. Cyborg Bugs Longer Lasting Now

Cyborg Bugs Longer Lasting Now
Just like Duracell bunnies, scientists working for the Pentagon have finally managed to develop insect cyborgs that are able to last a whole lot longer, making them useful for recon missions without being detected by the enemy. Part of DARPA’s Hi-MEMS program, the plan includes aims to implant micro-mechanical systems [MEMS] “inside the insects during the early stages of metamorphosis”, ensuring that tissues grow around and fuse with the minuscule machines as bugs get older. The whole idea is to remotely operate these insects using “direct electrical muscle excitation, electrical stimulation of neurons, projection of ultrasonic pulses simulating bats, [or] projection of pheromones.” Don’t think the SPCA will have anything negative to say about this, as it is a matter of national security and bugs generally don’t seem to feel the pain. WashUP Washer and Toilet Combined

WashUP Washer and Toilet Combined

Yes, you are reading this headline correctly. Someone actually invented a washing machine that works in conjunction with a toilet. Yeah, I know it sounds pretty gross, but listen to what the WashUP actually does. The washing machine is stationed above the toilet in order to recycle the washer water into the toilet. The concept is based on a simple premise: why use fresh water to go to the bathroom in? The WashUP puts in soapy water from the washing machine that would have otherwise have gone down the drain and puts it to good use. Now you can go in part-clean, part dirty water and send it, well, down the drain. The washer is also built high so you don’t need to crouch down to put your clothes in. Philips DVDR5570H DVD Player
The Philips DVDR5570H DVD player will come in two flavors - 120GB and 250GB which retail for €399 and €499, respectively. You will definitely wonder what kind of newfangled technology or features are included in this new DVD player after paying such an exorbitant price, right? Well, be prepared to be disappointed since they only contain a single tuner and has the ability to store and playback various multimedia files such as music, photos and recorded TV. At least the Philips Media Jukebox function is retained, allowing you to playback tunes directly off your USB flash drive when connected. I think it is time to move on to Blu-ray instead of remaining stuck in the world of standard DVDs. (Read the full post about ‘Philips DVDR5570H DVD Player’…)

Jeff Bezos posts Kindle apology on Amazon’s front page
Posted Mar 20th 2008 11:35AM by Joshua TopolskyFiled under: Handhelds Sure, Philippe Starck may not care for the Kindle, but an open letter posted on Amazon’s front page suggests he’s in the minority. We already knew that the company was having a difficult time filling orders, but we had no idea the wait for buyers would warrant what amounts to a public apology from Jeff Bezos. Apparently, the online superstore is drawing heat for six-week delays on delivery for some customers, and is scrambling to get itself into an “order today, ship today” scheme.
