Nokia has let the WiMAX Edition N810 out of the bag, of course this comes as not much of a surprise, the rumors have been on-going, not to mention the in-the-wild style photo earlier this morning. It is nice however to get all the official details. Aside from the addition of WiMAX the overall specs remain the same as the standard N810 which features a 4.13-inch touchscreen display, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, built-in GPS, built-in webcam, 2 GB of internal memory, microSD card slot for additional storage and a web browser that is powered by Mozilla. The WiMAX Edition N810 will be available to US customers beginning this summer and retail for $449. (Read the full post about ‘Nokia officially announces the WiMAX Edition N810′…)

CNET reviews the Samsung T819 and writes, “The SGH-T819’s 1.3-megapixel camera takes pictures in five resolutions, from 1,820×1,024 down to 240×180. Other camera features include five quality settings; brightness and white balance controls; a night mode; exposure meeting; 20 fun frames; a self-timer, and three color effects. There’s also a digital zoom (though it’s unusable at the highest resolution) and three shutter sounds, plus a silent option. The camcorder records clips in two resolutions (176×144 and 128×96) with sound and a number of editing options; clips meant for multimedia messages are capped at about 40 seconds, or you can shoot for as long as the available memory will permit.

Now here’s another robotic pooch that keeps you and your guests entertained as long as you are willing to fork out a thousand clams for it. The G-Dog from HPI Japan stands ay a mere 5.3″ tall, boasting a similar control unit and sensors as found on the GR-001, a bipedal robot from HPI Japan as well. At least you have no poop to scoop up once you’re done playing with this bugger. You’ll have to suppress your excitement of getting one at least until July when it is released in Japan. Since Bluetooth became a standard feature on most phones, people have been coming up with all sorts of new headsets. The ones that fascinate me the most are the ones that use the vibrations from the bone in your jaw to detect what you are saying. To me it’s cool and creepy at the same time. Less creepy though, than this new Bluetooth Dental Insert Microphone. Essentially what you do is stick this tiny transmitter (powered by an even smaller solar panel) into a small crevice in your tooth (exactly like a filling) and it picks up the vibrations in your teeth. While that would make things really simple sometimes, that is just way too creepy. Honestly, I’m completely disappointed with this product. InfoWorld is reporting that Yahoo has agreeed to Microsoft’s offer after haggling that went deep into the night. The final price looks to be $2.6 Billion more than Microsofts original offer. Steve Ballmer expects the next six months will be spent deciding how to redecorate Yahoo offices and how to best integrate the two companies. Yahoo CEO Jerry Yang, who had publicly opposed the acquisition, said, “Being part of Microsoft will let the Yahoo vision reach further than we could have done on our own. And we will provide Microsoft the engine it needs to deliver on its Web-based services vision.” I am just thrilled this is over. It seemed inevitable to come to this conclusion. Those looking for an April fools joke, won’t find it here. Sorry. (Read the full post about ‘Breaking: It’s done: Yahoo agrees to sell to Microsoft’…)

Reports are coming in that Apple’s new LED backlit MacBook Pros might not be so dazzling. A forum thread at Apple details a striping effect which appears to be caused by a bank of LEDs going down. the problem is intermittent, which sounds like a loose connection. In fact, many of the reports say that the problem occurs when waking from sleep and can often be cured temporarily by closing and opening the lid.
Other reports say that it is related to the power supply, and appears when the Magsafe adapter is connected.

Four men have been arrested, and three of those detained by police at Tampa Airport. Delta Global baggage handlers have been pilfering hi-tech gear from checked luggage, exploiting the fact that TSA rules mean you can’t lock your bags anymore. In a classic sting, police used a rigged computer as bait to wind up the six-month operation. And while they don’t know the real extent of the crimes, the list of recovered gear won’t surprise you: “laptop computers, digital cameras, iPods, sunglasses and headphones”. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the bargain basement prices charged for the knock-off goods. Laptops for just $60, iPods for $10 and digicams for $50. Vivitar’s new hi-def pocket camcorder, the 565HD, looks very familiar (it’s the one on the right, in case you’re having trouble). It’s definitely a budget model, with few fancy features to get in the way. The 720p camera records straight to h.264 at 30 frames per second and stores movies on an SD card. Playback is via a nice big 3" LCD screen or through the supplied HDMI cable. The only other information we have is possibly the most important in this low-end range of the market: color. The camera will come in black or silver. If it is cheap and good, this pocket-sized HD cam could be a winner. Just don’t try to make any phone calls with it.
