GPS Coming To Archos PMP

Posted on Apr 16, 2008 10:54:02 PM

Word has it that the new range of PMPs from Archos will feature GPS navigation within, allowing you to not only keep yourself entertained with movies and the Internet, but also get to your hotel room from the effort without ending up in some backwater place in a rented car. This sixth generation Archos will probably see the long overdue Archos 606 and 706 hit the streets. Hopefully the battery life will be able to keep up with this new functionality.

Blogger proposes with homebrew DS Bejeweled

Blogger proposes with homebrew DS Bejeweled
This story has been around for a while but it’s just hitting mainstream news now. Bernie Peng, a financial software programmer, altered a homebrew version of Bejeweled for DS to clear the screen and drop a ring down when his girlfriend reached a certain score. Lucky for Bernie she said yes, and it was heard by nerds everywhere, including Bejeweled maker PopCap, who is flying them to Seattle as part of their honeymoon. The company is also supplying copies of Bejeweled as gifts to wedding guests. Bernie and his girlfriend have recreated the moment in a series of photos on his blog. Definitely a geeky thing to do, so I applaud Bernie, but a quick search of Geek.com would have saved him some trouble since Astraware created a special edition of Bejeweled last year for just such an occasion. One-stop shopping for laptop bags at Career Bags - and contest
If our recent Laptop bag bonanza - Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 - has left you dizzy with choices, here’s a suggestion: check out Career Bags. With the exception of the Zegari, they sell all the bags we’ve previewed, including Abbi New York, Casauri, Diane Von Furstenburg, and McKlein, and have the best stock of anyone on the web, including this beautiful red GOLLA bag from Finland. The self-made executive and owner of Career Bags, Ellen Hart, echoed the other women we talked to when she told us, “I originally designed business cases for women in 1989 because they didn’t exist.” The modest entrepreneur doesn’t volunteer at first that she designed the Veronica London, a very popular handbag design that she sold to Hartman luggage and still sells on her site. Eve Online source code leaked

Posted on Apr 16, 2008 06:06:39 PM

Earlier this week the source code for the MMO Eve Online started to appear on the Internet via torrents. The code was for the Eve Online client software leading some to fear it would jeopardize the game or security in some way.

Developer CCP have been quick to dispel those fears, however, stating that:

Access to the source code for the EVE client exposes no security vulnerabilities, has no privacy protection issues, and poses no threat to our customers’ billing information.

In fact the game, like all MMOs, is designed with security in mind. The security is concentrated on the server-side where all the player and game information is actually kept.

Kingston BlackBox is more secure

Granted, the majority of us won’t carry around information on our USB flash drives that are too incriminating should someone else pick it up due to our forgetfulness, but you can never be too careful, right? After all, with the deluge of passwords and PIN numbers that one has to memorize these days, it can get pretty tough trying to store all that information in our head hence some people use a USB flash drive instead. Kingston’s effort to increase security where USB flash drives are concerned is reflected in its latest release - the DataTraveler BlackBox which will ship in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB capacities.
