A MacForums reader claims to have received a one-sentence e-mail from Steve Jobs regarding iPhone 3G connectivity issues. According to MacForums, the e-mail says the following: We are working on some bugs which affect around 2% of the iPhones shipped, and hope to have a software update soon.Steve If we’re to trust Cote Collaborative analyst Michael Cote’s estimate of 3 million iphone 3Gs sold since July, 2 percent translates to about 60,000 users having problems with the 3G network. The reported issues have ranged from difficulty staying on the 3G network to slow overall performance. Two percent is a relatively small number, but Apple has learned that it cannot neglect even minute percentages. Asustek Computer have come to an agreement with Orange to make available a free Eee PC bundle - only in the UK market. Once you decide to set aside good money for a 2-year 3.5G online service contract with Orange, you will get a free Asus Eee PC 900 for your daily portable computing needs. The cost for this deal averages out at approximately £25 monthly. Sounds pretty good to me if you’re a heavy data user as the Eee PC 900 is no slouch. Gold might be the current standard with the Olympics going on at this point in time, but diamonds are forever as with this diamond-studded Canon PowerShot Elph. There will be five of these available courtesy of Amosu, and each of them will feature 88 white diamonds with a total value of 2.22 carats, making individual cameras worth around $10,000 a pop. Talk about a dazzling present - too bad you’ll need another camera to capture an image of your blinged out gizmo. If you’re one of the many people who have seen the latest movie addition to the Batman franchise, then you may have some questions in regards to some of the technology and action featured in the movie. Specifically, you may wonder just how feasible some of the technology is in real life, let alone some of the stunts. Luckily, there’s a Hollywood physicist who has taken on the challenge.
Adam Weiner, of Popular Science, took a look at the Batmobile, the Batpod, a radar emitting cell phone, a control room which records cell phone conversations and triangulates the position of the Joker, in addition to some of the physical and everyday challenges some of the movie scenes offer.

Newton’s cradle is always a popular office gift, and you’ll see it on many office desks, but what about the Boynq Swing USB Hub, which is more or less a USB hub built around Newton’s cradle? While it might look like Newton’s cradle, we’re fairly sure it won’t work like one. It will allow you to plug USB devices into it of course. One of Popgadget’s favorite accessories, Cliphanger, now has a very simple yet useful add-on, a little flashlight for those moments when you need just a little bit of light. The original Cliphanger is a very lightweight clip shaped somewhat like a large paper clip that you attach to the back of your cell phone ($12.95 for one, but cheaper by the pack). You can then clip it onto a belt loop, purse strap, dashboard (or any surface using the included autohook that you attach to the surface). The Cliphanger Light version is $16.95 for a single purchase. It now comes in 16 different colors, including the 6 lighter colors shown above. During the Flash Memory Summit, held last week in California, a rumor gathered pace that Seagate is about to pounce and acquire SanDisk.
The rumor varied from Seagate just wanting SanDisk’s SSD division to going after the entire company. Some even suggested such a move would be bad for both companies. Both Seagate and SanDisk are either refusing to comment or not responding to correspondence regarding the issue.
Back in June Seagate CEO Bill Watkins confirmed the storage company is moving into the SSD market, initially focusing on business customers.

As mentioned in our review of the ThinkPad X200 Lenovo took the Montevina refresh as a chance to make some major changes to their ThinkPad lineup. We saw new models added to the T, R, and X lines, but the other big piece of news was an entirely new line. The new addition, the SL series, is a lower cost alternative to the standard models (especially the R series) that is aimed specifically at small business users. Small businesses have special computing demands given their lack of a dedicated IT department which means that they don’t need enterprise features, but they still need security, recovery, and management. To address the special needs of small businesses, as well as to round-out the Thinkpad line, we get the SL series. (Read the full post about ‘Review: Lenovo ThinkPad SL400 Notebook’…)

Digital cameras may be a very inexpensive accessory now, and there is very little that separates one from the other. I’ve been trying out several models, and I had a chance to try out the Olympus FE-340. How does this Olympus model rate compared to other digital cameras I have tried? Pretty well, actually. It is 8.0 Megapixels with a 5x Optical Zoom. And the pictures on the screen are very clear, measuring at 2.7 inches. Other features include face detection technology that allows a user to modify a person’s image, even turning a frown into a smile. The camera also has ISO sensitivity, which allows you to capture blurry images, and fix them on the camera. (Read the full post about ‘Olympus FE-340′…)
