When Electronic Arts decided that they needed a “global quality assurance center,” they had a pretty easy task. Find a place where lots of people play video games. So what did they do? Well, they found a nice, big state university and they’re setting up shop.
Today, EA and Louisiana State University announced the gaming giant’s commitment to create more than 200 jobs with an annual payroll of around US$6 million for kids to test new EA Sports titles. While only 20 of those jobs will be full-time, the government of Louisiana is hoping that this facility is just the first of many.

If you thought that salesmen at big-box electronic stores were aggravating before, things are going to get a whole lot worse. Circuit City has apparently been working with Microsoft to develop tablet PCs that can be carried around by the sometimes clueless employees. The tablets will be able to offer product recommendations, demos, answers to common questions, competitive pricing and more.
They’re calling these things the Enhanced Digital Guide Experience or EDGE, and they’re all a part of Circuit City’s new format stores. They’re also clearly a part of creating a knowledgeable work force, but that’s another story.

Although its still just in the rumor stage, it does seem accurate enough and follows up nicely with T-Mobile’s recent confirmation and the FCC approval. It looks like the T-Mobile Android-powered HTC Dream will be available for customers beginning on October 13, with pre-orders running from September 17 through October 3 for current T-Mobile customers, and the handset will be available in black, brown or white. In addition to the release date, some pricing information has also come to light, and it seems to be set pretty fairly. It is rumored that the HTC Dream will be $199 with a two-year agreement. Image courtesy of Kotaku.com This is not something I ever thought I would have to say, but the Xbox 360 has sold out in Japan. You can’t buy a new machine anywhere in the country right now due to recent demand. The reason for the surprising sell out is mainly being put down to the recent release of the latest in the very popular Tales of RPG series. Not only did Microsoft manage to get a release for Tales of Vesperia on their hardware, they also secured it as an exclusive meaning you could only play it with an Xbox 360. The picture above shows you the queue at the launch of the game on August 7th. With sales of Xbox 360 in Japan being very low, you can guarantee most of those people were also there to buy the console to play the game on. We reported earlier this month how the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) had taken out a restraining order against three MIT students. The reason being they had found vulnerabilities in the CharlieTicket system and were going to present their finding at the Black Hat conference.
The action taken by the MBTA stopped the talk from happening and the students from discussing the issues with the system any further. The Electronic Frontier Foundation has been representing the trio and a judge has now decided to lift the gag order.
